Swashbuckle's Treasure

Note: This blog serves to help you in coming up with ideas to write as a short story/novel/script/whatever. Please note that some of the ideas in the blog are downright silly and not meant to be taken as is. You can get the gist of the entry and alter it any way you want, for any purpose whatsoever.

The Plot:

A renowned treasure hunter, Billy Hunt had been through everything: swamps, forests, caves, and mountain peaks. He befriended those he could along the way to reach his goals, including the remnants of the Inca Indians in South America, the indigenous tribes in Brazil, the Aetas of the Philippines. In 35 years as a treasure hunter, Billy feared nothing. All of that is about to change.

One day in between assignments, Billy heard a knock on the door of his condominium unit. When he opened the door, he was surprised to see a little girl holding an iPhone claiming that she was his daughter.

The girl showed Billy a video message recorded by the mother to say that she could no longer support her.

At first, Billy wanted no part of the girl, and instead went to a treasure hunting assignment early. Upon his return, he realized that he missed the little girl and promised to take her in his assignments. From there they developed a loving father-daughter relationship.

The Hanger:

Billy’s rivals learn of his affections to his daughter, so they hatch a plan to kidnap her. As a condition for her release, Billy needs to go to the deepest ocean and retrieve the rumored treasure of the famous pirate Swachbuckle the Ruthless.

The Twist:

There is no treasure, since Billy found out that the tale of Swashbuckle is fictional. Instead, he brings fake items and contacts the authorities to capture the kidnappers.
