Happy Chip

Note: This blog serves to help you in coming up with short story ideas. Please note that some of the ideas in the blog are downright silly and not meant to be taken as is. You can get the gist of the entry and alter it any way you want, for any purpose whatsoever.

The Plot:

In the future, engineers and scientists have developed a tool for people to control their own emotions. This is done by embedding a special chip to a baby upon birth. When they grow, they'll have the ability to control how they feel.

If they find themselves liking  a girl who doesn't like them back, they can simply think that they don't like them, and the longing feeling is gone. If they get angry, they could fizzle their rage by the use of thought. Life becomes perfectly beautiful, yet monotonous.

The Hanger:

Then one day, an "un-chipped" person shows up and becomes a "monster" to the society. He couldn't control his emotions, yet he seemed free and happy. He convinces everybody that there is nothing wrong with being angry or loving somebody who is out of reach because they are human. Once they discover the freedom of their own emotions, they began to revolt against the manufacturers of the chip: the government.

The Twist:

The Government is controlled by highly-advanced aliens- the same aliens who brought the emotion-controlling technology to Earth. In the end, the earthlings convince the aliens and those in their home planet that it's okay to feel emotions.
