Corruption Kills

Note: This blog serves to help you in coming up with short story ideas. Please note that some of the ideas in the blog are downright silly and not meant to be taken as is. You can get the gist of the entry and alter it any way you want, for any purpose whatsoever.

The Plot:

President Jeremy Smith isn't the most honest public official. He blatantly steals from the public funds and lavishes his friends with expensive gifts while his people starves. He helped his sons and daughters get public office positions so that they, too, can get rich off the people's coffers.

Despite this unashamed abuse of power, Smith managed to hold on to power mainly because if the people's apathy. They have seen worse leaders before, "at least this one isn't as dumb as the last one," they would say.

The Hanger:

One morning, confidently jogging through a park near his official residence, Jeremy is kidnapped by a militant and idealistic group who wants reforms. Their plan is to drug the President and make him confess to all his sins in front of a camera in a live TV broadcast, all naked and bloodied.

The Twist:

With minutes to go before going live, and with the presidential security army and police closing in on them, the group needs to protect themselves in order to unleash to the world the horror of putting a power-hungry leader in position. Only then, maybe, that the people's apathy will die and the cry for true reform will be heard again.
